Urungano Group members' school trip to Gakenke
On 26th June, 2019 members of the TRIP-supported group, Urungano, accompanied by the executive secretary of Kabushinge Cell, Ms Uwambajimana Console, went on the learning trip sponsored by TRIP organization to Nemba sector in Gakenke, North to observe and learn how agriculture is done professionally.
What skills obtained
During the visit, Urungano members were able to discover how cultivation is performed in Gakenke, especially banana cultivation even on rough land.
They also visited the poultry farm owned by a farmer, Mr. Nambajimana Jean, who own more than 5000 birds, this successful farmer said that with his skills, he was able make profit from eggs laid by his hens.
In Nemba Sector, Urungano members visited a sericulture farm also known as a silk production farm, they understood well the process silk making, from cultivating the silkworms on mulberry leaves to how silk worms make cocoons which silk is obtained from.
After returning home, members of Urungano were able to apply what they studied from Nemba onto their farms.
