The youth holiday training was held by TRIP's Advisor in Charge of Education, Germaine Twahirwa. She used various techniques, such as group discussions, group presentations, testimonies, questions and answers to help them better understand what they were learning. Forty-two (42) children and sixteen (16) parents were trained on various topics. The topics covered were:

  • Child abuse which refers to any act or failure to act that results in harm or potential harm to a child's physical, emotional, or psychological well-being. This includes physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. It is a grave violation of a child's rights and can have lasting, detrimental effects on their development and future well-being.
  • Gender-based violence that is harmful actions based on gender, causing physical or emotional suffering, encompassing domestic violence, harassment, and discrimination. It necessitates societal awareness and efforts to challenge and change harmful attitudes and behaviors.
  • Responsibilities of children at school that includes attending classes regularly, actively participating in learning activities, and completing assigned academic tasks. They should also show respect to teachers and peers, adhere to school rules, and strive for a positive learning environment. In addition, children should remember to respect God.
  • Responsibilities of children at home encompass assisting with household chores, such as cleaning, organizing, and cooking, while also maintaining their academic duties like completing homework and studying. Additionally, showing kindness, respect, and contributing to a harmonious family environment are vital aspects of their roles within the household.
  • Responsibilities of parents for students that includes providing emotional support and encouragement, ensuring a conducive learning environment at home, actively engaging in their academic progress, attending parent-teacher meetings, and fostering a sense of discipline and responsibility towards education. Additionally, parents should facilitate extracurricular activities, guide career choices, and instill values that promote a well-rounded development in their children.
  • Testimonies from best performing students at school including efficient time management, consistent study routines, active participation, seeking help when needed, setting achievable goals, nurturing a growth mindset, and maintaining overall well-being.
